The Ugly: Dreams. Terrifying. Involving certain folks, 'back from the dead', with SUCH scary eyes, full of bright, snapping hatred, and with a gang, like, 'The Claimers', from The Walking Dead - and, for some reason, I had to live with them, and just knew, that, at their first opportunity, they were going to kill me. Their eyes were liek - can't even describe them, but they made me think of shiny magazine paper. I haven't really feared death for years, now, doing what I do for a living - but upon awakening, I did, because I didn't want to meet up with him/them and all that hatred. Yikes. WTF does it mean? Like I said before, things are speeding up, coming on, fast.

Here. Have some Carl :

Okay. Being me, I somehow cobbled together - - man, you should see it - - a set-up with an ancient megaladon monitor that takes up half my desk, the keyboard that the lovely and vivacious [livejournal.com profile] distantnoises oh, so generously sent me, eons ago....and the Mein Dieter of laptops that sort of mysteriously came (sort of) back to life, this morning. No mouse or anything, but the touchpad on the lappie is hit-or-miss-working, so far - I just have to stretch to reach it, and be very, very careful..All Hail, 'The Graveyard of Elderly Technology', yo.

Ghetto-fabulous, but that's me, ya'll.

Have a rebuilt desktop on order - with XP on it, hallelujiah - - so I hope this keeps on, keepin' on, 'til then. We'll see. At least, I can do my freakin' banking, for now.

*GOOSEBUMPS* So much love for this. So very true - and, along with Carl, thoroughly shattered and rebuilt my POV on the world and faith. Bill, we lost ya too soon:

OMG. MANY THANKS TO [livejournal.com profile] distantnoises - - FOR THE HEADS UP.

KRAFTWERK IS COMING.

KRAFTWERK.

http://pitchfork.com/news/59473-kraftwerk-announce-fall-tour/

I gotta start saving up, NOW. Memories of the MOMA show burn, they BURN..

Wish I'd been here for this - 1978, yo. Imagine.

If lucky, I'll get..more this:

Oh. Em. Gee.

Houston? We've got another one.

Lovely, lovely gentleman, Mr. H. - - who helped design the pilot seating for the Mercury-Redstone launch vehicle...and further, on the Gemini missions, as well..Worked at Cape Canaveral..and, OH, how one after the other failed and crashed..

He lit up when I laughed and said, "Oh, you never should have told me that.", and was delighted when I found his missing pajama pants :)

I really hate to be a pain, but, y'know..If he has any stories he wants to tell, y'know..I'd be happy to listen..

b) It's Trek - OMFG, total LOLz; I love it.

Why not?

If I don't win it, I'm going for THIS:

I stumbled across a BBC documentary on Kraftwerk, early this morning, and it whet my appetite like MAD, so I had to watch this, right after. Over two hours of bliss; MUCH, MUCH with the love. Never gets old.
In the doc, they said that nine out of ten people that tried to get tickets to their tour were disappointed - myself, included, when I saw the prices...One woman hung on the line for NINE HOURS, and still didn't get tickets.
No one else like them. Period:

Anyone else watching, King of the Nerds?

Where did this weekend go?

Got all my shit done before the Ice Capades hit outside, though. Got some beautiful apples and all the fixins' to eat greek salad at work, all week. My paycheck was a little skimpy, but - BOING! - that 'unclaimed insurance' check came, as if on cue, and all is well. I am spoiled :)

Appreciated some complicatedly stark trees - imagine, being able to capture that; they looked like they were done in ink..over watercolour - driving around in all the complete daylight, today.

Rainy and foggy, comin' home; just gorgeous.

If you ignore ALL of these - and I don't blame you - listen to THIS. It's liEk, when my body dies and breaks down into just molecules and energy, joining space and time, it will feel sound like this (esp. starting around 1:47 - I love the precision of the words, Der Mond). Absolutely thrilling :

Okay, I'll quit. ;)

My sincerest heartfelt condolences (and gratitude) to Green Bay. But, hey. At least Dallas aint gonna be in the Superbowl?

This takes my breath away, each time I see it:

Those tiny figures, walking across the ice (of Enceladus, maybe? I'm such an Enceladus fangrrl and gasped earlier in the film when they showed what could only be its' geisers) literally gave me a lump in my throat, LOL - That sky, filled with Jupiter's swirling storms, like a living painting...Floating..Through the myriad snowballs of Saturn's rings - and that slow, hypnotic leap from that cliff...down..down...And, of course, Carl.
correctiveshoes621: (live long and prosper)
I'll just leave these here, as I'm still at SUCH a loss ♥

Whoops. Actually slept a bit, today, and missed posting for the 29th.

Old news for some, but I find it really incredible: http://www.space.com/27861-3d-printer-space-station-first-part.html

Last night at work. Never, ever want a repeat. I didn't know that actual lung tissue looked like that.

Good news: My son has his own car insurance, now, and I was refunded fifty-four bucks - whoot. ALSO - in the mail came a notice of, 'unclaimed funds' from my late husband's work insurance - to the tune of $256 - yay! Just have to fill it out.

This was really good. DANG, Matthew Crawley Dan Stevens:

This wasn't too bad, either:

correctiveshoes621: (Radioland)
Oh, I just absolutely loved this:

I lo-o-ove 'vintage' sci-fi, and this is a great example. Silent, Danish, from 1918 - I found it while looking for, Aelita, Queen of Mars - a silent russian film from 1923 - and wound up enjoying it far more. The 'Excelsior' is adorable (ha. Sulu.), the clothes are amazing, and the, 'Martians' have the right ideas.

Also, this:

correctiveshoes621: (Dream Ed)
Somehow..I no longer get any kind of 'birthday notices' for my friends, on here, so...

Yikes. He looks a bit irritated with me...

Happy Lunar Landing Day, everyone :)

Forty-five years, ago, on this date, Mankind set down on another world. It STILL gives me goosebumps. Thank you, Neil and Buzz and Michael. Thank you - to the thousands that made it happen - achieving the ONE event, that made us, as a species, unite - if only for a brief moment in time.

We need to go back. The moon misses us.

End of an era. Rest in peace, boys.

correctiveshoes621: (First Step)
Wow. Tonight's, Cosmos - I'm still, just - WTF - Way to piss on the hundreds of thousands of men and women who worked on/flew/DIED FOR the Mercury/Gemini/Apollo programs, there, Neil. After clobbering us with Carl, yet..who worked on said programs, even briefing my boys, pre-flight..

This was on my Tumblr, with the caption: "How dare you.", so it's not just me.

 photo tumblr_n6iv4wbf2X1qkhfseo1_500_zpsf9a61316.jpg

Now, I'm not arguing that any of what he said was wrong - I couldn't, of course, it's fact - but THE WAY he said it..His voice dripped with disgust, dismissing the missions as a mere 'extension'..The smart-assed, condescending way he said, "No.." - IDK, it sure FELT like a slap in the face..He even used (bits of) Carl's, 'The Gift of Apollo', but somehow, still smarting, it almost made me vomit -

Anyway, Carl said it all infinitely better; nicer, somehow, with a bruised naivete', a disappointment (kind of how I feel about it), not with disgust and derision -

I should probably watch it again, no?
ETA: I did, and it wasn't all that.. :)

*~*~*

Meanwhile, I *finally* got my ten-year pin at work, and continue to kick ass. I got up eleven extra people for day-shift, Sunday morning by myself - NEW PERSONAL BEST - and STILL managed to come straight home and mow the muthafuckin' lawn.

Huzzah.

Just absolutely humbling, and a great way to wrap up this weekend.

Now available in 30 languages on BluRay and DVD from www.firstorbit.org - this real time recreation of Yuri Gagarin's pioneering first orbit, was shot entirely in space from on board the International Space Station. The film combines this new footage with Gagarin's original mission audio and a new musical score by composer Philip Sheppard. For more information visit http://www.firstorbit.org/

As hilarious as this telescope is...and as wozzy as conditions are...THE MOON. Is effin' BEAUTIFUL. It's a bit too overcast, and the moon, itself, too large and bright for viewing..but still. Effin' beautiful. Little else can excite me in this way - ever, always - and, for a first brief try? Wow.

And, derp. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] hierokeryx - fuck social anxiety. I'm looking into THIS:
