Sean didn't even bother to show up for the TORN Party? That is what I am hearing on The Pony. I'm actually kinda pissed off on certain people's behalf. I guess he figured that Vanity Fair or somesuch would be better shmoozin' grounds for his career? And PLEASE, I don't even want to hear that 'he is a family man, and went home, such a nice man, blah, blah..' -- for Chrissakes, it was Oscar Night.

PLEASE correct me if I am wrong.

he nor ian made it to the torn party.

he wasn't mentioned by anyone on stage, so i don't know where he ended up. it was disappointing.

You know? It kinda seemed on the on-air interviews that he was hanging in the background, sort of detached. Talking on the phone, even.

I am SO GLAD you had such a good time.

Seal that glass in plastic, dear..preserves the DNA..

GAH.

Not only that, but the Oscars end at 9 PST. Family man or not, he can stay up later than 9, no? Heck, as far as I can tell, Christine wasn't even there, so it's not like the babysitter bill was getting too high.

Yeah.

I didn't see her, either..and, not to be a 'rabble rouser', but I WAS LOOKING, lol.

Maybe it had something to do with the BOE nightmare...but, there were some certain (Canadian) people that went through GREAT expense and personal stress/hardship to see him, in particular. THAT is mostly why I think it stinks.

And really bad form...kinda tells the tale, IMO.

As I said above, he seemed kinda distant from the whole group in the interviews..like he was just tagging along on the periphery 'cos it was expected of him..maybe had something to do with the incident at SAGS? Man.

Well, I don't know the man from a hole in the ground, so I can't really guess what is going on with him/in his head. Just REALLLLLLLLLLY disappointing.

I'm just speculating, but I think her absence has little to do with strife... My guess is that she gave her ticket to one of the hobbits. Since none of them were nominated, and only Sean is an Academy member, the other hobbits must've been invited by someone. For instance, in 2002, Peter and Fran - who don't need their "and guest" ticket since they're both nominated - gave a ticket to Elijah.

Oh, I agree -- didn't mean to imply otherwise, as so many do. I think that a lot of the people who think there are problems with those two are just 'wishful thinkers'..I think they are such a cute, solid couple..and that Chris is GORGEOUS...Possibly the best thing to ever happen to that man..and he knows it. Talk about 'Love at First Sight'.

*Cries for BG, though: can't help it*

I was with BG, and I felt bad for her. Until the end of the party I was hoping he would turn up. Billy, Sala, Lawrence (Lurtz) and Bruce Hopkin turned up after most of them had gone.

I've been trying to figure out how they all got in. Ian and Liv were presenters, so there's that, plus Ian's a member. Sean's a member. Peter and Fran would've had extra guest tickets, so there's two. Maybe D and E got Pete and Fran's guest tickets and Billy got Sean or Ian's? Ian didn't seem to have a date.

As for Sean not being at the TORN party, well, Ian wasn't either, and he'd said he was going to be there. I knew the gang were going to be really busy. After the show, they had to spend some time at the Governor's Ball, which is in the same building as the show. Then there was the Vanity Fair party, the NL party and Elton John's party, which Ian said he was going to as well (and did, as far as I know.) I'm guessing Sean wanted to hit the VF party at least briefly, and probably got caught there (I think there are pics of him with Chris there.) And by the time he got free, he had to go home, because he had the GMA gig the next morning, and since that's live, he'd have to have been up by 3am at the very latest to make the 7a EST start time of the show. So he was probably in bed by 11, at least for a nap. I don't blame him for that. Sure, I wish he'd been there, but I also understand.

*sighs* Why do their lives have to set to our wishes? Did he think people would want to see him at Torn, maybe, but maybe he had real life things to be concerned with and put that above strangers?

I think people need to give a guy a break. First they complain about his speech, which was made on behalf of his ill mother. Now cause he's not at Torn people are pissed. He does have a family and he does have a ill mother, plus a production company to run.

He made it to Oscar and we should be glad of that. His brother was on the phone with him on the red carpet and I know he's been keep Sean up to date on how their mom is.

It's fine to be disappointed, but come on - he's not living for the fans alone.

>>Why do their lives have to set to our wishes?

Never said that. Nope. I am just disappointed for my friend. As I stated.

What is Patty's illness? I am not all that involved with the 'fandom' side of things -- just with my friends -- and do not know.

They don't want to state what it is, but the rumor is cancer. She's been ill for several months. Sean has had to back out of a few things to fly to Hayden, Idaho where his mom lives, when her health has gone up and down.

She's selling her house there, so her and her 4th husband might be moving closer, I'm not sure.

She's made a deal with a nephew who is trying to sell a Software company, and so they made it a package deal on EBAY.

http://www.officialpattyduke.com/spokesman.htm

She was to be a presenter at the 41st Annual Publicists Awards. But from what I hear she didn't make it.

Well, I certainly hope to God that that is not true. There was some speculation some time back about another member of the family. And yeah, I remember her selling her house, etc. on Ebay from the, 'Ellen' show..and thought it kind of 'left 'o center' then.

Prayers on this end for them. Thanks for the info!

I don't fucking care. I'm late to this party (my new nick is LateAss Luna) but I've now found out that he went to NL and went to VF and was free by 1 am...the TORN party didn't shut down til 2am. Bruce Hopkins and Sala and Lawrence showed up and did a wonderful Maori farewell.

But where the fuck was Sean? I have no fucking idea and I'm very pissed he wasn't there. Networking and schmoozing or no. Is he dissing fans for some reason? (BoE not the least of them) I hate to tell Mr. Asstin, but that new house he bought? Some of that money came from his fans whether he wants to admit it or not. Who does he think put 50 first dates on top for 2 weeks in a row? I'm thinking it aint because it's a good movie. HIS fans. Ya think his lily white ass could have made a fly by at the TORn party. I don't care if he did have an interview. PJ had more interviews.

I haven't gotten far enough on my friends list yet to find out, but I know BG was brokenhearted. She won't admit it, but it was written on her face.

Sorry to rant in your LJ but anyway. It's things like these that make it suck to be a SEAN fan. Gawd.
