Dec. 31st, 2009 07:48 pma) New Year's Eve at my daughter's appears, at this writing, to be a bust. The roads are skating rinks, and freezing rain has become my arch nemesis. We will call her at midnight, I guess. Poor substitute, especially given the year we've had.
b) Read a smidge of, Angel of Darkness at work, the other night, and it stuck with me. Fascinating era, fascinating characters. Developed a crush on Caleb Carr IMMEDIATELY after seeing what he looks like. Bzuh.
c) As I was reading said smidge, a family member of an 'in-transit' resident came down to use the public restroom. I did a double take and was probably perceived as rude, but this man was an utter frickin' doppleganger of my late husband. Down to the glasses.
d) Maxfield Parrish's work will be exhibited here - http://www.tfaoi.com/newsmu/nmus156.htm - from April 29 through July 11; tempting as hell, but it's pretty much impossible to do in less than a weekend. I *still* can't believe I totally missed the collection when it was MUCH more reasonably closer. I carried that little scrap of newspaper advertising it with me for over a month, and, yet..
