Dec. 26th, 2009 09:25 amI hope everyone had a Merry, Merry. :) We did. Basically fell out of bed, wrapped everything, fell into the shower, into my son's car to my sister's, then into my own, then to work. Lots of laughs and good food and good company - both at my sister's AND at work, that night. The kids all liked their gifts, so that was good, too. I love buying people stuff :)
*My niece, Abby's face when she saw the frilly, dressed-up 'victorian lady' teddy I got her - she literally gasped and snatched it up and just hugged-hugged-hugged it :) The bear's counterpart - a sailor in dress uniform - for her brother, Nick - got a less-enthusiastic reception, heh, but once he discovered the colouring books and crayons for them both, he got busy :)
*The framed pictures my sister got from our aunt in Pittsburgh that made my jaw drop, they were so awesome - Boths sets of Great-Grandparents, then the Grandparents, young, and three HILARIOUS ones of my little curly-redheaded mom as a toddler - there's even one of our Cherokee G-G-G Grandmother. Loved her instantly. She's sitting in a long Civil-War era skirt in a rocking chair in the yard, with the strainer of green beans she'd been tip-and-tailin' in her lap. Her cheekbones are incredible; her eyes, deep-set and shadowed and wise. The highlight of the night, for me.
*My teen-aged nieces, giggling over the, 'Twilight'-guys books with posters I got them. We all agree that the 'Edward' guy looks kinda gross and greasy, but the other guy is kinda hot.
*I love making my brother-in-law laugh. We have the same twisted 'black' sense of humour. He also works night-shift, so maybe there's the correlation?
*My mother, looking so cute in her new coat - even though we both laughed at the buttons, which did NOT look like that in the photo on QVC, all huge and GOLD and so many of them! - it hangs just so perfectly on her that we are going to replace them. My B-I-L almost fell out of his chair, laughing, when I said I'd no idea it'd be, 'all Sgt. Pepper-y and stuff' - the coat is so sharp on her, it will be worth a few buttons.
*OMG. Remember the work-turkey DJ'd driven to my sister's that morning, and no one was home, so he left it on the frozen porch? Um.
Their army of barn cats had a very Merry Christmas, LMAO.
The girls came home from school, and there was nothing left but bones and some plastic - LOL! - and not a cat in SIGHT until a couple hours later, when they all piled into a huge purring pile on the porch swing and slept. I bet they were happy :D
*My brother, cracking up over the 'Magic 8-Ball'..
*Having brownies and coffee with my daughter, last night - a genuinely good, relaxed evening - watched, 'The Office' Christmas show (a riot), and some of the SNL one, though we just couldn't take that 'Gilly' person..she loved the 'Magic Bullet' system, but we were at a loss for items to chop. She is itchin' to make her own hummus and salsa - and invited us for New Year's for same. She was also tickled with the Foreman grill :)
*All the 'Weird Pieces of Stewed Tomato, Found In Unusual Places', at work, that night, with Sonny. 'Look! There's another one!' Great night, great food, great camaraderie. Wish every night at work could be that way :)
*Capped off my Christmas by watching, “A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All”, and just CRACKED up, sitting here, by myself. 'There Are Much Worse Things To Believe In' - http://jameslrr.wordpress.com/2008/11/25/there-are-much-worse-things-to-believe-in/ - NEVER gets old.

We (re-watched) the SNL show last night with my step-brother, who came 'home' for the holidays. Alec Baldwin's 'Schwetty Balls' skit never fails to get me laughing. I, too, detest Gilly - that actress is too good for that dumb character.
I hope the peace and beauty of Christmas continues throughout the coming year for you.
