Interesting to see WHY the good Lord saw fit to gift me with a hideous, tormenting rash, these past few days -

a) given the atmosphere at work, I've been off because of it and couldn't get into THEIR dermatologist until yesterday; and yes, they paid for it (skin scraping/appt),

b) it all but damned magically dissipated once I was off work - leading me to suspect stress, as a factor,

c) I do NOT have what I thought I had - yes, the dreaded 'S' word,

d) am getting paid for the time off, as I have vacation days...and,

e) gave [livejournal.com profile] gayalithiel a good laugh, as the cause turned out to be overshowering - and she's always thought I was a bit OCD in that area (Who? ME? Three showers a day is a LOT?) - which scored me some samples of some really mild soap, that I really like.

The days off actually led up to my weekend off, AND really finding out FIRST HAND that some of the bigwigs at work really actually SUPPORT me, and were concerned. Go figure. :)

A good lesson. Don't be so quick to bitch, because there's ALWAYS a plan.

*~*~*

Just finished up some trimming/weedwhacking that needed to be done, and planted three pots of beautiful yellow and sienna mums (from me Mum) in the front, around the lamp post. I have dirt under my fingernails, and that ALWAYS straightens me out a bit. :)

*~*~*

DJ is doing fantastic in the alternative school - remove the social ills (one of the HUGE factors was that pretty much the entire school, including teachers, were OH, SO PRO-BUSH, and he was constantly getting into political arguments. Yes. Really. That's mah boy.)? His stress plummeted and his concentration has soared. He is really INTO it, and has found a love of learning (AKA, 'showing off how smart he is') again. My only regret is that I was too bullheaded to do it sooner.

The whole reschedule/driving business is not THAT bad, and I've been getting a lot done during those two odd hours. As a treat for him, we stopped yesterday and I let him pick out a pie at the Amish stand. He chose pecan and is one happy guy. ♥

He and my (also brilliant and dedicated) daughter fill my heart with joy - I love calling her on the phone and just letting her go on and on and on about her job. :)

*~*~*

Joe Biden is awesome. Sarah Palin is an insult.

*~*~*

The annual Rain of Nuts has officially begun.

*~*~*

A weird, weird thing, yesterday. The Scary Redneck Neighbor's teenaged SON came and knocked on our door to see me. Naturally, his father was not home. He wanted my opinion on what colour to paint his bedroom ("So, you're an artist, right? You paint?" WTF. How does he know this?), and asked me to come over and have a look.

Naturally, I made DJ come along, as I wanted to be polite, yet didn't want to be murdered.

I do not trust him, but he's always been very polite and careful, and has knocked on our door on various occasions to tell me that I had a flat tire and that my lights were on, once. I feel sorry for him, but am NOT opening any avenues, here.

No way, no how.

Katt Williams is HILARIOUS, OMG.

Whoa-ho-ho - wait! I thought that 'cougars' implied 'predatory' - and let me assure you...eeew, no. Now, I *may* be a MILF, in his eyes, but GAH. I HOPE NOT. These ppl are worse than the, 'Deliverance' bunch. Srsly.

That was weird. People normally don't ask other people for advice on a color selection for a bedroom. It's good you're trusting your instincts about this teenage boy. Better to be safe than sorry.

Well, yeah - seriously. See, you don't know this, but..these people trap feral cats and sell them for medical experiments. They set traps and yeah; the guy admitted it to me. Animal control said that it's still his word against mine, so..unless I get film or whatnot..which I totally understood.

They. got. our. cat, and she was definitely not feral and I still can't even talk about it.

You shoulda seen this kid's FACE when I went APESHIT on his dead-assed-hillbilly-from-hell-Bush-lovin' father. My son had to pretty much physically restrain me. I have never perpetrated physical violence, really, against another person unless in self-defense - but this time..Oh, yes. They are two doors down and just stare creepily at our house.

Get cable. Better yet? Get a job.

Long story shorter? This kid was agog that anyone would speak this way to his father and just gaped. There is some mental challenge-ization in that family. I shudder to think, really, what this kid has seen and been thru.

I do feel sorry for him but frankly, my door is not OPEN in this instance.

WTFFFFFFFF???? I can't believe that doesn't violate some sort of animal cruelty clause. What if he gets someone's pet by mistake? OK, you are TOTALLY JUSTIFIED in hating your neighbors!!!

They are two doors down and just stare creepily at our house.

*SHUDDERS* My mom has some pretty redneck-from-hell neighbors (with the parrot that imitated them having sex!), a bunch of cars on blocks and two campers, but WOOOOOOOOOOOOOW. No cat killing/spying (I don't think)! >.<;;;;;;;;;

YES, OMFG, the first time I heard it I was standing in my mom's drveway and I thought someone was in MORTAL PAIN. Then I listened closer . . . and those were MOANS! "Harder, HARDER, AH YEAH, etc . . " COMING FROM THE PARROT!!!! It was very Oedipal.

I think you may have already seen this youtube user-made video of Peter Gabriel's "I Go Swimming" at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5QLD2-WLPQ --Maybe I'm perverse, but I was both terrified and laughing hysterically at this video.
From: [identity profile] indiwise.livejournal.com
*sob*

Can't do YouTube, on this antique Amish computer. I got the gist of it, though..heheehehe...
From: [identity profile] mercystreet1986.livejournal.com
The video just shows people getting eaten by sharks, cars losing control and careening into water, Godzilla jumping into an ocean, corpses popping out of water. And all of this is set to the happy, upbeat dance tune of Peter Gabriel's "I Go Swimming." It's okay that you can't do YouTube in the present time. In the near future, you'll definitely see any youtube videos you want once you get a new computer. I'm assuming you already have high-speed internet.
From: [identity profile] indiwise.livejournal.com
Hehehehhhe - you assume too much. Dood. I don't even have television. It's been about ten years. ;)

Aahahahha - well, 'functioning just perfectly fine' is debateable. But GOD, it's just probably 59% trash and 30% propaganda with about 11% good, informative stuff that makes you think.

It had been TRYING to do the thinking for me. Uh uh, no way. My son reads books, now. Of course, there's always The Simpsons, which defy all natural law.

The Simpsons does defy all natural law!

I've loved the Simpsons since I was a 7-year-old kid! At that age, I was in ESL (English as a Second Language), and watching the Simpsons helped me to improve my English! :D

First Language: Cambodian! :)

From: [identity profile] mercystreet1986.livejournal.com
Ah, thanks for the kind compliment! :) My first language was Cambodian. My parents--who spoke zero English--came to America in the early 1980s. Since I grew up in a household that spoke only Cambodian and zero English, I didn't know a lot of English. But I knew some English from watching American cartoons on television. Apparently, my English language skills were sub par in the regular preschool and kindergarten classes because afterward the school system put into ESL in 1st grade. ESL rocks! :)

Wow. That is so interesting. I've been nowhere..never outside of this country..just here and there within it.

Be prepared. I may ask you for various phrases in Cambodian. It sounds so damned cool. :)

I am going out and about, now, but will be back later, tater. :)

I'm so glad to hear DJ is doing well. Sometimes kids just need a different environment to make them thrive.

And so glad to hear it wasn't the S word! But since you've been out weedwhacking (I love that word!), maybe it's some plant reaction? Hope it goes away quickly.

If I heard Palin say "you betcha' or 'heckuva' or 'gosh darn it' one more time, my eheard was going to explode. And that idiotic wink made me want to reach through the tv screen & slap her. And that's aside from the fact that she never answered one question directly. grrrrr.

What the heck is\s the 'Rain of Nuts"? Or do I want to know?

Every. Single. Word. Yes.

The Rain of Nuts? Well, we are in a forested area, and I love it. LOVE it...however, this time of year, the surrounding mighty oaks and hazelnuts begin to drop and by the end of the season, we have actual 'nut drifts' piling up alongside the house. It's a riot and sometimes, downright LOUD. [livejournal.com profile] gayalithiel was not used to such things and it tickled her mightily when she visited. :)

Too bad we can't eat 'em or burn them for fuel, eh?

3 showers a day! You're making my 1-a-day seem so groddy!

That's cool that DJ is doing better in alternative school . . I HATE it when teachers try to push their political agendas on you. I was a lot less knowledgable about politics and the like when I was in high school so I really didn't argue (then again, those were the halcyon Clinton years . . and things didn't MATTER as much as they do now). Good for DJ for standing on his priciples! He sounds too smart to just sit there and let his teachers force-feed him their ignorant BS. My boyfriend, who is also very smart, almost went to alternative school for the same reason.

And your neighbors . . *shakes head* UGGGH.

Well, the shower thing turned out not to be so good, eh? See, before we moved to 'Indigo Hill', here, we lived in a sort of third-world country setting....so, the first thing we did was go apeshit with the hot showers. Trust me. I take one when I get home from work...and then, before work...and if I'm off work? One inbetween JUST BECAUSE I CAN. Besides, running water is good for the aura. ;)

>>My boyfriend, who is also very smart, almost went to alternative school for the same reason.

That is awesome to hear. Sincerely. It's not a matter of 'fitting in', it's a matter of owning your principles and your own mind. He fears for his generation. He is an old soul, that one. :)
