Found on Datalounge:
President George W. Bush said today he's happy to be a peacemaker, but it's hard work.
"We've brought peace to so many areas of the world, but the fight never stops. Got to tell you the Good Book says "Blessed are the peacemakers, and that's what keeps Laura, me and the twins striving so hard."
The president, becoming teary-eyed, described the War on Terror as 'A War For Peace.'
"As Leonard Cohen once wrote, 'Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose.' Got to keep fighting the good fight so we can have a Peaceful Kingdom on Earth in anticipation of the Lords return."
Bush was addressing a group of evangelical Santa Clauses at the White House. Members of the group say it's their duty to tell children Santa isn't real, but Jesus is. Most of the Santas are unemployed.
Is this for-real?
OH. No, it is NOT. But, STILL. It really unnerved me.

As a poster on the DL states:
"It's a hell of a note when people argue about whether a President's speeches are satire."

thats very clever. and it DID sound real.
i was watching a documentary on tv last night about a certain politicans here that is pushing his christian faith and how theres a rise in conservative christian based political parties. it sad obviously Australia wants a conservative christian values to come back other wise that party wouldnt be so popular.
...so Australia will be like America one day. using God as something to hind behind and as a flimsy excuse.

Date: 2006-12-18 12:08 am (UTC)It is sad when you can't tell if a report about his speeches are real or parody. Evangelical Santa Clauses?
And just because I'm a fucking know-it-all, that lyric (freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose) was penned by Kris Kristofferson ('Me & Bobby McGee'). So much for that reporter's fact-checker.
