What times we live in.

Saw a group of military helicopters heading southeast, about two hours ago - heading towards Philly? DC? Very glad to live somewhat in the sticks.

Two nights ago, my brother went to work - night-shift Walmart stocker/clean-up - - and arrived to find the entire store surrounded by police in full military gear. Rumours of coming looters...He very wisely got right back into his car and went home. Got a text when he got home that they were keeping the store closed. Relieved he followed his instincts.

Still not sure if I'm going back to work or not. I'm sure my name is Mud, but I don't really care, at this point. At last count? My wing has been decimated - cannot even THINK about what individuals I've lost. They're being VERY careful with language in updating us - - allegedly, 'only' two deaths, so far. 20 resident cases (active) in-house, and at least that many active cases in staff. Checking out remote jobs, and my sister wants to maybe try starting some sort of small business. Idk, anymore. Cannot wrap my head around the idea that - after almost twenty years? Srsly? - that THIS is how it ends. My anxiety is off the hook.

My second COVID test came back negative, thank God.

Got to get glasses before I lose my insurance.

GOT to vote, today. Going to double-mask and glove, of course.

Yes - I so agree re: first and second class people. It's horrific and so obvious. Here, the folks dying are mainly the elderly and people of colour (but with plenty of all other ages/races), and it really, really makes me think that maybe this is targeted towards them.

IE: Yesterday, in the state of Kentucky, there was a primary vote - preliminary, before the presidential election in November. The state has always had 3700 places to go vote, statewide, but..the Republican party reduced that - literally CLOSED places down - to leave only 200 for the whole state.

A city of 616,000 people - the majority being people of colour? ONE place to vote. One. People were told to bring MEALS and water with them, because the wait, in line (with the oppressive heat and virus, all around) would be hours.

Voter suppression at its finest. And no one does anything about it.

As for my resignation? It was not an easy decision, after all these years. Believe me. But it was time. I do consider myself very blessed because I managed to get most of my many, many hours of accrued vacation time paid out - - and just found out, yesterday, that I qualify for unemployment for at least 26 weeks. And not sure what I want to do - I've been turning jobs DOWN, because I have to detox before I can apply anywhere - although I DO qualify for medical marijuana? It was too expensive to get the license, and I kept putting it off; stupid me. So.

And frankly, once I get a stupid 'smartphone'? There are multiple jobs doing, 'contact tracing' - - tracing contacts folks have had with people that have tested positive for the virus. And that, I can do, at home - - I just have to work one weekend a month as a CNA to maintain my certification. Which puts me RIGHT back onto the front lines, but what can you do? I want to keep my certification.

Right now, I am just...here. And frankly, relaxing for the first time in decades. I still feel like I'm, 'in recovery' - liEk, from PTSD from that place.

Funny but here it was much noticed that coloured people seemed ‘immune’ to the virus. Yet they are mainly illegal immigrants who don’t live in very healthy conditions.

The strategy of closing down the places to vote to make it difficult for people is wicked! But if your President was elected with the help of the votes of white supremacists it’s understandable that his party doesn’t like the idea of black people voting...

Oh, I understand you feel like recovering from PTSD after resigning, and you feel the need to detox. If you qualify for unemployment, though only for 26 weeks (little more than six months anyway) then apply for it, why not?
