This saving money thing is hard - but makes me creative, which is good.

Since I'm allergic to nickel, I have issues with watches, and yet, need one for pulses and lunchtimes at work. Whatever watch I get goes through a LOT - giving showers is the worst trauma, destroying band after band made of leather, both faux and real - I've ended up with a few watchfaces that still WORK, without bands..Yeah, I know. Get a new band. Well, that costs money...and since I've now lost my beloved $9 watch with the hysterically badass silly plastic flames band - and canNOT wear the really awesome gunmetal one without breaking out, and so on and so on - - I found an old watchface that's beeg and round and cut off what was left of the defunct band and took a piece of black silk sort of ribbon and fed it through the top 'band-holding stick'-thing and am in the process of hooking the main part of an IDIC earring to the BOTTOM 'band-holding stick'-thing, so that it dangles down as it hangs around my neck - thusly creating the Treknerdiest coolest pocketwatch EVER..and the length is just SO that it fits right in my scrub breast pocket.

Whoot. It worked. Guys..

These are the actual earrings and YES, they ARE too huge and tacky to actually wear in public - so, it was meant to be.

Had an incredibly nerdesque night at Pete's - after running to the bank to pay my mother, and doing laundry and and and and - and watched a bunch of TMP outtakes and deleted scenes, while DJ fixed Pete's computer. Fresh peaches and cricketsong were had by all :)
