Just (finally) watched, 'Cloverfield' with DJ; and - 'Oh, my God!' - while we snarked our way - 'Totally, dood!' - through its multiple young/urban/hipster cliches? We really enjoyed it.
- and, we TRIED. We honestly TRIED to sit through at least SOME of, 'The Love Guru', on behalf of Stephen Colbert..But...just..nah; my apologies, Mr. Colbert - we just couldn't do it. Another time, perhaps. :)
*~*~*
Got two - not one, but TWO - of those oil-filled, radiator-shaped space heaters. One for his room and one for mine.
Hallelujiah.
At first try, mine threw the breakers on my entire half of the house (!), but I turned it way-y-y down to 'medium' setting, and it seems fine, and is keeping my room pretty damned toasty.
*grateful*
*~*~*
Talked to my sister-in-law in Texas - there was no getting out of it - and, well, it's been awhile..but, not a lot has changed. Prepare to be baffled.
She is the SANEST one of the family - a down-to-earth OR charge nurse who has a ranch and horses - and that maybe aint saying much, but, hey. She considers me pretty much the only family she has left - as both her Evil!Barbie sister AND La Bernadette had screwed her over so *m i n d b o g g l i n g l y* that she hasn't talked to either one of them in years.
Pretty much the last time *I* talked to either of those harpies, myself.
Grand Guignol is NOT dead, let me tellya.
Long story, less long: they basically lied to her about their father moving down with them all to Atlanta, 'so they could take care of him', guilted/forced her to leave her job security/sell her ranch and move there..THEN..the day that the mother was to co-sign a loan for a home, there? "CHANGED HER MIND"..THE DAY OF SIGNING. THEN, set her and her husband up in some SHACK on the Evil!Barbie sister's property - that she spent tens of thousands fixing up? Only to inform her that she was expected to leave her career and be a babysitter for the Evil!Barbie's child and be, well...basically, an indentured servant. To 'not even bother to move in her own furniture; it's MY house'.
THEN? THE KICKER?
The Evil!Barbie-sister TALKED THE FATHER INTO LEAVING *E V E R Y T H I N G* to DAN.
Yep.
To my alcoholic husband. Cutting her out of the will (and herself, saying that she didn't need his money and that her sister "didn't deserve it") - um.
And Dan basically spent all of Frank's money. Nothing's left but the house and that aint sayin' much.
And, now, SHE'S concerned if Dan has a will. Oh, please. As IF. Because she wants to make sure that whatever's left of 'the estate' goes to ME, and not to the state..and not to the harpies.
*cries*
The only thing *I* was concerned about was her having the chance to say, 'Goodbye' to her father and her brother.
This is gonna be SO, SO ugly.
*~*~*
It may take me awhile, but, I can take a hint. I get it, now.

I need some mah jong. STAT.
