Sep. 13th, 2010 06:04 pmWow. Thank you all for the overwhelming response to my last post - and yes, according to legal eagle
rickysbaby? We ARE fucked - and it is NOT PA state law for us to have a fifteen-minute break. Sadly, I can clear this up at work, tonight, and drop the bad news bomb - as I start a four-day, tonight. The ONLY good thing about this news is, we can stop the slackers who merely walk off their floors and go to the break room to lay their heads down for fifteen minutes - leaving their wings unattended or making others watch it for them..AND the people who try to add that extra fifteen minutes to their thirty-minute lunch break, leaving the REST of us stuck, answering their bells...There are several of these types on our shift, at present. We're ALL 'tired', come ON.
As for the wheelchair/geri chair issue?
a) The 'clutter' business came from Corporate, NOT from the state, b) we CAN put the chairs in the rooms, BUT -
1) there's 'no room in the rooms', and we trip over them constantly,
2) with demented patients, they SEE them and want to get up by themselves into them (same with walkers, which I fold and put away),
3) we cannot put them in most bathrooms because most of our residents are not bedbound and try to go into said bathrooms on their own, so we can't have the toilets blockaded - so, you want them close at hand but not TOO close? If that makes sense. I canNOT express my gratitude for bed alarms ENOUGH.
We ARE allowed to have stuff in the hallways, BUT only on one side of the hallway - to make room for the firefighters, in case of fire. EVERYTHING - linen carts, vitals machines, laundry buckets, trash and bed-pad cans - ALL on the right side of the hallway. It's only at mealtimes that the trash/pads/dirty laundry has to be hauled to the end of the hallway, so that does not affect our shift. AND It's Corporate who didn't like the way it looked, but it's not illegal - and I am certainly NOT doing it. As far as I'm concerned, Corporate doesn't come on our shift, so they can suck my imaginary dick. Huzzah.
*~*~*
Had a weird dream where I was escaping from these two scary old ladies in my old neighborhood by smashing tea cups - they'd somehow baked peoples' spirits into the china of the cups; you could see their faces in the cups - and I was running down a flight of wooden steps, dashing cups - releasing the peoples' spirits - left and right as I ran - all the way out the door and off the porch and across the yard (my old porch and yard, mind you) and through the trees - running, dashing these cups. This nice neighbor lady wanted a cup and I recall her picking it up and looking at it, admiring it, and then seeing her OWN face in the cup as she fell..I finally made it to the train; which was all bright colours, like a circus train - and remember feeling SO relieved, looking up at it..
- - any interpretations?
