The comments at the bottom, however, made me want to cry. Made me ashamed to be an American (as if there's not ENOUGH reason..)

Considering it's AOL, it's not all that surprising, though.

For a country supposedly founded on freedom, there sure are a lot of small-minded, ignorant, hateful people, out there who have the nerve to call themselves followers of Christ, and JUST may have UTTERLY missed the whole point of Jesus' whole 'Love Thy Neighbor' message. I know the economy is in the toilet, there's a horrifying-lie/mistake-of-a-war, going on..Violence and flat-out WILLFUL ignorance is at an all-time HIGH..Culture of Fear, perpetuated by the Media..etc, etc..but, PEOPLE. RE-DIRECT SOME OF THIS ENERGY TOWARDS FIXING THINGS..FIXING OURSELVES AND EACH OTHER...Not blindly lashing out with some sick mob mentality at people who are in love and WANT to make a commitment to a life together.
