'Does Not Play Well With Others'

Arrrrrrrrrrgh. Stress.

Am s'posed to be at Ethel-from-work's (yes, 'Ethel') picnic. For her 25th Anniversary. After working all night.

Am NOT there. Am HERE.

The reason being..well. I *do* sorta want to 'fit in' at work...for the simple reason of the profession itself, and how support/camaraderie from my coworkers will make it a hellll of a lot more palatable/easier -- but -- the bigger side of me just totally FUCKING rails against it..and 'their kind'...and their 'Reindeer Games'...etc...and does NOT want to 'fit in'/be like they are. EVER. Being that kind of uppity fuckin' vanilla suburban 'normal' is DEATH to me...it is GIVING UP to me. It is SURRENDER.

I will always be in the 'miscellaneous' category. The 'Other' column. This fucking life.

I like Mizz Ethel, I really DO...She is one of the only ones who would even TALK to me when I first started.

BUT.......I honestly have nothing to wear but fucked-up jeans and ragged black concert shirts (ETA: LunaRising can vouch for me on this!!!). And it is both confusing and distasteful to me to be EMBARRASSED at that fact.

Being poor sucks...but it is useless to me to try and to put on some damned 'Preppy Poseur' act, you know? I do NOT own 'pastels'...let ALONE the fuckin' red/white/blue patriotic shit that they wear. With little white shorts, yet -- Come on..You KNOW the type...YE GODS.

I am what I fuckin' AM.

And it makes me mad...just don't know why. I feel sick.

So...I will get her a nice card. And make an excuse. Like I always do.
