(no subject)

Arrrgh. Just want to say that I have no choice but to make that oh, so fun and long-awaited call to Gateway today..in regards to both of my drives, which have been 'locked' for a while now. Both of them, and no reason why. Figures that this would occur during the rush of publicity for ROTK, but I really can't put it off any longer, as the warranty on hardware runs out any day now..and I have procrastinated too long as it is; maybe too long. I didn't really care about downloading/burning music, etc...but my friend, Frankie read me the riot act, hipping me to the fact that if my drive doesn't read disks...I can't restore my system, if it goes down.

Like, Duh.

The only problems are a) minimum of four to eight hours on the phone with the snide Gateway techs, and b) the system always seems worse after I deal with them, and c) I *know* it is a hardware issue, and can't bear to be without a pc for even the week that it will take to fix; addict that I am..

So, folks..Here goes nothing. Hope it works out, and hope to be back online ASAP.

Just got off the phone with Gateway, and yeah..big surprise; got to take it into the shop. I told the 'LiEk OMG!' teenage tech that at the beginning. Something about a 'Master/Slave' thing..and the innards were wired in so tight, I could not disconnect them. I am supposed to take it all the way into Reading; but just got some devastating news.

My 93-year-old grandmom in Pittsburgh is not doing well (understatement), and we are going to drive up to see her on Friday. Time is genuinely of the essence here. Fuck the freezing rain, etc. I am going to see her if I have to walk the seven hours there. It is a matter now of quality of life, versus quantity..and it aint really quality, anymore, folks.

If I was HALF the woman she is..I would be twice what I am today. Period. They do not come any finer, or any stronger. All the gifts and talents I have, I ascribe to her..and Luna? You know what I mean there.

She is my hero, and I cannot bear to lose her. Fuck. More later as I get myself together and try to deal with this.
