Ho, Ho, Ho. Santa loves the, 'Dollar Tree' store.
Just got back from surprising Bernard. :D
Mister, "Oh, I expect to spend Christmas alone..in zee dark..", YEAH, RIGHT. And, NO, he didn't tell ME that - but it got back to me, of course. As if I'd let that happen.
And yes, my motives were purely selfish - I love to make him laugh. So, he's all Holiday-ed UP, now - his room is, anyway.
I got - for a song - twin green table runners for his dresser (one for his room-mate, Bill)..Really cool clear snowflakes, to hang from red ribbon, in the windows, to catch the sun - two different types of biggish ones, with gold-filagree jingle bells, to hang in-between, to balance it....Smaller prismatic snowflakes to hang on his wardrobe doors...And, for him? A soft tartan blanket, which he loved, and in which he was wrapped, immediately upon opening..A Lindt dark chocolate bar, with which he was genuinely delighted - I had no idea that Lindt was *actual* swiss chocolate, so that was a total score. Who knew? It was great fun, hanging everything - perching precariously on this #$%^& footstool, LOL - with him, directing.
The thing he loved the most - oddly, enough - was an old 'drum' bowl/container; shaped like a drum on its side, made of dark stained wood, with gold braid and tassels - - it was given to me, to hold holiday potpourri, and, since I wanted a sort of 'festive but manly' candy dish for his rootbeer barrels, it just worked. We filled it with starlight mints and rootbeer barrels, and he just couldn't get over it. Now he can offer a treat to his, 'company', in style, lol. I laughed, because it'd been just sitting around, for God knows how many years, collecting dust - so - - so glad he likes it.
He wants to have his son bring him in some 'real' champagne, for me to have with him on Christmas, since I don't have to work, that night. I laughed and just said, 'We'll see.'
And now, his room is no longer QUITE so bare; it really bothered me. His latest, 'prize' - one of my zany tissue boxes ("La Lune", with a stipple-ink of the moon) was pretty much all he had for decoration.
So, Ho, ho, ho - my friend. The look on your face said it all ♥
